Ernst Schertel sent a personal copy of his 1928 book, Magic: History, Theory and Practice, to Adolf Hitler during WWII. Hitler's copy is still in existence and is stored in the John Hay Library at Brown University. Hitler made a total of 66 annotations in the text. Among the marked passages are:
“False images are necessary for the recognition of truth."
“He who does not have the demonic seed within himself will never give birth to a magical world.”
